In a move aimed at improving urban mobility and reducing pressure on Karachi’s overstretched road network, the city administration has imposed a two-month ban on the operation of three-seater and five-seater rickshaws on 25 major arteries, targeting smoother traffic circulation across key commercial and residential corridors. The restriction, notified by Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on the recommendation of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, will remain in force until February 21, 2026, and has been enforced under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.) with immediate effect.
Officials said the increasing presence of rickshaws on primary roads has been causing bottlenecks, disrupting connectivity between business districts, markets, and densely populated neighbourhoods, and slowing overall vehicle movement, factors that negatively affect economic activity and urban efficiency. The ban covers several of the city’s most strategic routes, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Korangi Road, and other high-traffic corridors that form the backbone of Karachi’s transport and commercial infrastructure.
Authorities believe the temporary restriction will improve travel times, enhance access to trade and retail zones, and support better land use and traffic management while contributing to safer and more organized urban movement.
Traffic police have been directed to strictly enforce the order, and violations may invite legal action as the administration monitors the impact of the measure to assess longer-term planning and mobility reforms for the metropolis.

The company operates a fully automated corporate dairy farm and supplies milk to major processors in Pakistan. The planned expansion under the IPO will occur entirely on its existing land, including construction of additional milking parlours, storage facilities, and feed management systems, without acquiring new farmland. The IPO is scheduled with book building on 2–3 February 2026 and public subscription on 9–10 February 2026, following approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Pakistan Stock Exchange. This offering provides investors an opportunity to participate in a technology-driven agribusiness with a strong land and property-based infrastructure.

Karachi | ReNews Pakistan Sindh has expanded the geo marking of land as part of its broader land governance and digital records reform programme with the aim of bringing greater clarity to land boundaries ownership documentation and land use patterns across the province. Under the geo marking process land parcels are mapped using satellite imagery and GPS based coordinates. Each plot is assigned a precise geographic identity enabling land records to accurately reflect location boundaries and existing land use. The system is being applied across urban areas agricultural holdings state land government properties and designated development schemes. The initiative seeks to address long standing challenges such as overlapping boundaries inconsistent records and unauthorized occupation. By digitally linking spatial maps with official land records discrepancies between physical land and documentation can be identified more efficiently reducing disputes and strengthening verification during transactions and development approvals. Geo marking is also being extended to government land riverbeds coastal zones open spaces and other environmentally or administratively sensitive areas. Once mapped these locations can be monitored digitally making changes in land use or encroachments more visible and traceable over time. In urban centres geo marked data is being integrated into planning frameworks to support zoning regulation infrastructure development and housing projects. Accurate spatial information enables better assessment of road alignments utility corridors public spaces and environmental constraints prior to project approval. In rural and agricultural regions geo marking helps clearly distinguish between cultivable land irrigation networks grazing areas and state owned land. This supports improved agricultural planning water management and the protection of communal and public land resources. Officials note that geo marking does not alter legal ownership on its own. Ownership rights remain governed by existing land laws revenue records and judicial decisions. The system functions as a technical layer designed to improve accuracy monitoring and coordination across land related functions. Overall the geo marking initiative reflects a shift toward structured map based land management in Sindh. If maintained and regularly updated it has the potential to strengthen land administration support planned development and reduce long standing conflicts related to land use and boundaries.
