About Shikarpur District

Shikarpur District, located in northern Sindh, Pakistan, is part of Larkana Division and shares boundaries with Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Sukkur districts. Shikarpur city serves as its administrative headquarters and is historically known as a major trading center during the Talpur and British periods. The district comprises four tehsils: Shikarpur, Lakhi, Garhi Yasin, and Khanpur. It is recognized for agriculture, date production, traditional handicrafts, and its rich architectural heritage, including old city gates and historic markets. While Shikarpur holds cultural and economic importance in upper Sindh, it also faces ongoing challenges related to urban infrastructure, flood vulnerability, and sustainable development.
