Lahore | ReNews Pakistan The Punjab government and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have formally launched a joint platform to bring climate, agriculture and water information together, aiming to help the province better protect farming communities from climate shocks and increasing pressure on water resources. The Agriculture, Climate and Water Punjab Consortium, known as the ACWA Punjab Consortium, was formally established through a memorandum of understanding signed at its first meeting in Lahore. The initiative brings together the Punjab Planning and Development Board, Agriculture Department, Irrigation Department, Environment Protection and Climate Change Department and Punjab Information Technology Board, with FAO providing technical assistance. The idea is to replace information scattered across different government departments with a coordinated system where officials can access climate, crop and water data through a single platform. The system is expected to support government planning, agricultural advice for farmers, water management and decisions on how resources should be used as climate-related risks become more serious. The programme forms part of FAO’s broader Transforming the Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management project, supported by the Green Climate Fund and co financed by the governments of Punjab and Sindh. A major focus of the project is South Punjab, including Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan, where agriculture is highly dependent on weather and irrigation conditions. Under the wider project, 24 automatic weather stations have already been installed ,15 in Punjab and nine in Sindh. Canal flow sensors, groundwater monitoring equipment and other systems have also been deployed to collect agricultural, climatic and water related information. Information collected through these systems will be fed into the ACWA portal so that government departments can use a common source of information rather than relying on separate and fragmented datasets. The consortium will also develop arrangements covering data sharing, secure storage, licensing and confidentiality. Participating departments will determine their responsibilities for supplying information and maintaining the system. Authorities are also examining how the portal will be hosted and maintained after the current FAO supported project is completed, with the aim of creating a government-owned system that can continue operating over the longer term. For Punjab’s agricultural sector, the initiative could become particularly important as farmers face increasingly unpredictable weather, changing rainfall patterns and pressure on irrigation and groundwater supplies. By combining weather, water and crop information in one place, the government hopes to make earlier and better informed decisions that can reduce risks to crops and improve management of limited water resources.
اسلام آباد | ری نیوز پاکستان خصوصی سرمایہ کاری سہولت کونسل (ایس آئی ایف سی) اسلام آباد میں پاکستان کا پہلا جدید اور اعلیٰ معیار کا میڈیکل ٹورازم سنٹر قائم کرنے کے منصوبے کو آگے بڑھا رہی ہے، جہاں بیرون ملک سے آنے والے افراد کو علاج کے ساتھ بہتر رہائش اور دوسری سہولیات بھی فراہم کی جا سکیں گی۔ اس منصوبے کا مقصد پاکستان کو دنیا میں تیزی سے بڑھتی ہوئی میڈیکل ٹورازم کی صنعت میں زیادہ حصہ دلانا ہے۔ فراہم کردہ معلومات کے مطابق دنیا میں علاج کیلئے دوسرے ممالک کا سفر کرنے کی صنعت کا حجم تقریباً 144 ارب ڈالر ہے، جبکہ اس وقت پاکستان کا حصہ صرف 0.5 فیصد کے قریب بتایا جاتا ہے۔ منصوبے کی ابتدا اس وقت ہوئی جب پلاسٹک اور خوبصورتی سے متعلق آپریشن کے ماہر ڈاکٹر محمد سلمان خان نے ایس آئی ایف سی کو خط لکھ کر اسلام آباد میں تقریباً 25 ہزار مربع فٹ تک زمین یا تیار عمارت فراہم کرنے کی درخواست کی۔ وہ یہاں ایک ایسا اعلیٰ معیار کا طبی مرکز قائم کرنا چاہتے ہیں جہاں بیرون ملک سے آنے والے مریضوں کو علاج کے ساتھ فائیو سٹار معیار کی سہولیات بھی حاصل ہوں اور مستقبل میں مرکز کو مزید وسیع کیا جا سکے۔ تجویز میں کہا گیا ہے کہ پاکستان میں علاج کے اخراجات ترکی، امریکا اور برطانیہ جیسے ممالک کے مقابلے میں بہت کم ہیں جبکہ ملک میں بڑی تعداد میں تجربہ کار اور ماہر ڈاکٹر موجود ہیں۔ ڈاکٹر سلمان خان کے مطابق خوبصورتی سے متعلق آپریشن اور دانتوں کا علاج دنیا بھر میں میڈیکل ٹورازم کے کاروبار کا تقریباً 35 فیصد بنتا ہے۔ ان کا کہنا ہے کہ پاکستان کم خرچ پر اچھے معیار کا علاج فراہم کرکے بیرون ملک سے بڑی تعداد میں مریضوں کو اپنی طرف متوجہ کرسکتا ہے۔ منصوبے پر غور کیلئے ایس آئی ایف سی نے اسلام آباد میں ایک اعلیٰ سطح کا اجلاس بھی کیا، جس میں کیپیٹل ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی، جناح میڈیکل کمپلیکس اور طبی ماہرین کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔ اجلاس میں منصوبے کو مرحلہ وار آگے بڑھانے کی تجویز دی گئی۔ پہلے مرحلے میں اسلام آباد میں اعلیٰ معیار کے خصوصی طبی کمرے قائم کرنے کی تجویز ہے۔ اس کے بعد مکمل طبی سیاحت مرکز قائم کیا جائے گا اور مستقبل میں اسے بڑھا کر اسلام آباد میڈیکل سٹی بنانے کا منصوبہ بھی زیر غور ہے۔ اجلاس میں بتایا گیا کہ پاکستان کو اس شعبے میں کئی فائدے حاصل ہیں۔ یہاں علاج کے اخراجات نسبتاً کم ہیں، بڑی تعداد میں مستند ڈاکٹر موجود ہیں اور لاکھوں پاکستانی بیرون ملک آباد ہیں۔ بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں کو اس منصوبے کے ابتدائی صارفین میں اہم سمجھا جا رہا ہے، کیونکہ وہ پاکستان آنے کے دوران اپنا علاج بھی کرا سکتے ہیں۔ منصوبے کے تحت خاص طور پر خوبصورتی سے متعلق علاج، دانتوں کے علاج اور دوسری جدید طبی سہولیات کو بیرون ملک سے آنے والے مریضوں کیلئے بہتر انداز میں پیش کرنے کی کوشش کی جائے گی۔ حکام کے مطابق اسلام آباد اپنے بہتر ماحول، سکیورٹی اور اعلیٰ معیار کے ہوٹلوں کی وجہ سے ایسے مرکز کیلئے موزوں شہر ہوسکتا ہے۔ منصوبے میں یہ تصور بھی شامل ہے کہ مریض کے ساتھ آنے والے خاندان کو بھی بہتر رہائش اور ضروری سہولیات ملیں تاکہ علاج کے پورے سفر کو آسان بنایا جا سکے۔ اگر یہ منصوبہ کامیاب ہوتا ہے تو اس سے بیرون ملک سے مریض پاکستان آ سکتے ہیں، جس سے ملک کو زرمبادلہ حاصل ہونے کے ساتھ ہوٹلوں، سیاحت اور صحت کے شعبوں میں کاروبار بڑھنے کی توقع ہے۔ اجلاس کے بعد سی ڈی اے کو ہدایت کی گئی کہ وہ چیئرمین سی ڈی اے، ڈاکٹر سلمان خان اور دیگر متعلقہ افراد کے ساتھ مزید اجلاس بلا کر منصوبے کی تفصیلات کا جائزہ لے۔ ماہرین کو جناح میڈیکل کمپلیکس میں مجوزہ مرکز کیلئے سرمایہ کاری، اخراجات، آمدن اور منصوبے کے قابل عمل ہونے سے متعلق مکمل جائزہ رپورٹ تیار کرنے کی بھی ہدایت کی گئی ہے۔ ایس آئی ایف سی سے یہ بھی کہا گیا ہے کہ وہ ماہر ڈاکٹروں اور اسلام آباد کے بڑے فائیو سٹار ہوٹلوں کے نمائندوں کا اجلاس کرائے تاکہ دیکھا جا سکے کہ ہوٹل اور طبی شعبہ مل کر بیرون ملک سے آنے والے مریضوں کیلئے کس طرح خصوصی سہولیات فراہم کرسکتے ہیں۔ متعدد سرکاری اداروں کی شمولیت کے بعد اس منصوبے کو پاکستان میں صحت، سیاحت اور ہوٹل کے شعبے کو ایک ساتھ جوڑ کر نیا کاروباری شعبہ قائم کرنے کی کوشش کے طور پر دیکھا جا رہا ہے۔

Multan : ReNews Pakistan The lake at Shah Shams Park in Multan is set to reopen to the public after remaining non-functional for around 15 years, as local authorities accelerate restoration work aimed at reviving one of the city's prominent recreational facilities. The lake, which has remained closed since 2011, is being rehabilitated on a fast-track basis and is expected to become operational during the first week of September 2026. Multan Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan inspected the ongoing development and restoration work at Shah Shams Park and directed the Horticulture Authority Multan to ensure that the remaining work on the lake is completed within the stipulated timeframe. During the inspection, the commissioner reviewed progress on different components of the rehabilitation project and stressed that the reopening should be accompanied by adequate arrangements for public safety. He directed officials to put comprehensive safety measures in place around the lake so that families and other visitors could use the recreational facility in a secure and comfortable environment. The restoration represents the revival of a public amenity that has remained unavailable to residents for more than a decade. Once operational, the lake is expected to become an important part of efforts to improve recreational facilities at Shah Shams Park and attract more families and visitors. Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan said the reopening of the lake would help restore the park's lost charm while providing citizens with an improved recreational space. Authorities are simultaneously carrying out other development works at the park as part of the broader improvement programme. The commissioner also inspected an under-construction cafeteria and directed the concerned officials to complete the facility by the end of August, ahead of the planned reopening of the lake. Managing Director Horticulture Authority Multan Syed Waseem Hassan briefed the commissioner about progress on the lake restoration as well as other development works underway at Shah Shams Park. He assured the commissioner that work on the lake would be completed within the prescribed timeframe and that the upgraded park would offer improved recreational facilities to residents. The revival of the lake is particularly significant for Multan's urban recreational infrastructure because large public parks provide residents with accessible spaces for leisure, family activities and outdoor recreation. After being out of operation for 15 years, bringing the lake back into use would restore an important feature of Shah Shams Park while making better use of existing public recreational infrastructure. With the cafeteria also scheduled for completion before the lake reopens, the ongoing works are expected to improve the overall visitor experience at the park. If the announced schedule is maintained, residents could regain access to the restored lake during the first week of September, marking the return of a recreational attraction that has remained closed since 2011.

ملتان کے شاہ شمس پارک میں واقع جھیل کو تقریباً 15 سال تک غیر فعال رہنے کے بعد دوبارہ عوام کیلئے کھولنے کی تیاری کی جا رہی ہے، جبکہ مقامی انتظامیہ نے شہر کے اس اہم تفریحی مقام کی بحالی کیلئے کام تیز کر دیا ہے۔
جھیل 2011 سے بند ہے اور اب اسے ہنگامی بنیادوں پر بحال کیا جا رہا ہے۔ حکام کے مطابق جھیل کو ستمبر 2026 کے پہلے ہفتے میں دوبارہ فعال کرنے کا ہدف مقرر کیا گیا ہے۔
کمشنر ملتان عامر کریم خان نے شاہ شمس پارک میں جاری ترقیاتی اور بحالی کے کاموں کا معائنہ کیا اور ہارٹیکلچر اتھارٹی ملتان کو ہدایت کی کہ جھیل سے متعلق باقی ماندہ کام مقررہ مدت میں مکمل کیا جائے۔
معائنے کے دوران کمشنر نے بحالی منصوبے کے مختلف حصوں پر پیش رفت کا جائزہ لیا اور واضح کیا کہ جھیل کو دوبارہ کھولنے سے قبل عوام کی حفاظت کیلئے مکمل انتظامات یقینی بنائے جائیں۔
انہوں نے متعلقہ حکام کو ہدایت کی کہ جھیل کے اطراف جامع حفاظتی اقدامات کئے جائیں تاکہ خاندان اور دیگر شہری محفوظ اور بہتر ماحول میں اس تفریحی سہولت سے فائدہ اٹھا سکیں۔
جھیل کی بحالی ایک ایسی عوامی سہولت کی واپسی ہے جو ایک دہائی سے زیادہ عرصے سے شہریوں کیلئے دستیاب نہیں تھی۔ دوبارہ فعال ہونے کے بعد جھیل سے نہ صرف شاہ شمس پارک کی کشش میں اضافہ متوقع ہے بلکہ زیادہ خاندانوں اور شہریوں کو پارک کی طرف راغب کرنے میں بھی مدد ملے گی۔
کمشنر عامر کریم خان نے کہا کہ جھیل کو دوبارہ کھولنے سے شاہ شمس پارک کی کھوئی ہوئی رونق بحال کرنے میں مدد ملے گی اور شہریوں کو بہتر تفریحی سہولت میسر آئے گی۔
پارک میں جھیل کی بحالی کے ساتھ دیگر ترقیاتی کام بھی جاری ہیں، جن کا مقصد مجموعی طور پر پارک کی سہولیات اور شہریوں کے تجربے کو بہتر بنانا ہے۔
کمشنر نے زیر تعمیر کیفے ٹیریا کا بھی معائنہ کیا اور متعلقہ حکام کو ہدایت کی کہ اسے اگست کے اختتام تک مکمل کیا جائے تاکہ جھیل کھلنے سے قبل یہ سہولت بھی عوام کیلئے دستیاب ہو سکے۔
منیجنگ ڈائریکٹر ہارٹیکلچر اتھارٹی ملتان سید وسیم حسن نے کمشنر کو جھیل کی بحالی اور پارک میں جاری دیگر ترقیاتی کاموں کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی۔
انہوں نے یقین دہانی کرائی کہ جھیل کا کام مقررہ مدت میں مکمل کر لیا جائے گا اور اپ گریڈ ہونے کے بعد پارک شہریوں کو بہتر تفریحی سہولیات فراہم کرے گا۔
شاہ شمس پارک کی جھیل کی بحالی ملتان کے شہری اور تفریحی ڈھانچے کے حوالے سے بھی اہم قرار دی جا رہی ہے کیونکہ بڑے عوامی پارک شہریوں کو تفریح، خاندانی سرگرمیوں اور کھلی فضا میں وقت گزارنے کیلئے اہم مقامات فراہم کرتے ہیں۔
تقریباً 15 سال تک غیر فعال رہنے کے بعد جھیل کو دوبارہ استعمال کے قابل بنانا شاہ شمس پارک کی ایک نمایاں سہولت کی بحالی کے ساتھ موجودہ عوامی تفریحی انفراسٹرکچر کے بہتر استعمال کا بھی ذریعہ بنے گا۔
کیفے ٹیریا کی تکمیل اور جھیل کی بحالی کے بعد پارک میں آنے والے شہریوں کیلئے سہولیات اور مجموعی تجربے میں بہتری کی توقع ہے۔
اگر کام مقررہ شیڈول کے مطابق مکمل ہوا تو شہری ستمبر کے پہلے ہفتے سے ایک مرتبہ پھر شاہ شمس پارک کی جھیل سے لطف اندوز ہو سکیں گے، جو 2011 سے بند ہے۔

Lahore : ReNews Pakistan Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin inaugurated the restored main entrance of Jilani Park following the completion of rehabilitation work. PHA Lahore Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed, Additional Managing Director Rao Tasleem Akhtar and other officials were also present on the occasion. Speaking to the media after the inauguration, Bilal Yasin said the 79th Independence Day would be celebrated across Punjab with full enthusiasm in line with the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He said the provincial government was also focusing on improving civic facilities, parks and public spaces alongside Independence Day celebrations. The minister said the Punjab government’s foremost priority was not political confrontation but providing relief to citizens and improving governance. He urged all political forces to give precedence to national interest, democratic traditions and political tolerance in the prevailing political environment. He said the government’s welfare initiatives were aimed at providing tangible relief to deserving families rather than merely serving political publicity. He added that several development and public service projects were under way across Punjab, including electric bus services, road construction and rehabilitation, scholarships, hospitals, clean drinking water schemes, WASA facilities, Sahulat bazaars and Safe City cameras. Bilal Yasin highlighted the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme, saying it was providing interest-free financial assistance to low-income families for the construction of their own homes. He said the initiative was designed to support families with limited incomes who otherwise lacked the financial capacity to build a house. The minister said political stability was essential for improving the national economy, attracting investment and delivering sustainable relief to the public. Citizens, he added, wanted solutions to inflation, unemployment and deficiencies in basic services, and the government’s attention remained focused on addressing these issues. According to Bilal Yasin, the pace of development projects across Punjab was being accelerated while efforts were also being made to ensure the transparent and effective utilisation of public resources. He said political leaders should rise above personal and party interests and prioritise the broader national interest. He said the Punjab government would continue taking practical steps to fulfil its commitments to the people and would not allow political pressure to obstruct public service. “Our competition is not with any political party, but with inflation, unemployment, deprivation and the problems faced by the people,” Bilal Yasin said.

صوبائی وزیر ہاؤسنگ پنجاب بلال یاسین نے بحالی کا کام مکمل ہونے کے بعد جیلانی پارک کے مرکزی دروازے کا افتتاح کر دیا۔ اس موقع پر ایم ڈی پی ایچ اے لاہور احمد عثمان جاوید اور اے ایم ڈی راؤ تسلیم اختر سمیت متعلقہ افسران بھی موجود تھے۔
افتتاح کے بعد میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے بلال یاسین نے کہا کہ وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب مریم نواز شریف کی ہدایت پر صوبے بھر میں 79 واں جشن آزادی بھرپور انداز میں منایا جائے گا۔ حکومت جشن آزادی کی تقریبات کے ساتھ شہری سہولیات، پارکوں اور عوامی مقامات کی بہتری پر بھی توجہ دے رہی ہے۔
صوبائی وزیر نے کہا کہ پنجاب حکومت کی اولین ترجیح سیاسی محاذ آرائی نہیں بلکہ عوام کو ریلیف فراہم کرنا اور گورننس کو بہتر بنانا ہے۔ موجودہ سیاسی حالات میں تمام سیاسی قوتوں کو قومی مفاد، جمہوری روایات اور سیاسی برداشت کو ترجیح دینی چاہیے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومت کے فلاحی منصوبوں کا مقصد محض سیاسی تشہیر نہیں بلکہ مستحق خاندانوں تک حقیقی ریلیف پہنچانا ہے۔ پنجاب کے مختلف شہروں میں ای بسوں، سڑکوں کی تعمیر و بحالی، سکالرشپس، ہسپتالوں، صاف پانی، واسا کی سہولیات، سہولت بازاروں اور سیف سٹی کیمروں سمیت متعدد منصوبوں پر کام جاری ہے۔
بلال یاسین نے خصوصی طور پر اپنی چھت اپنا گھر پروگرام کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس منصوبے کے ذریعے کم آمدن والے خاندانوں کو اپنے گھر کی تعمیر کے لیے بلاسود مالی معاونت فراہم کی جا رہی ہے۔ حکومت چاہتی ہے کہ محدود آمدن رکھنے والے ایسے خاندان جو اپنا گھر تعمیر کرنے کی استطاعت نہیں رکھتے، انہیں مالی سہولت فراہم کرکے گھر کی تعمیر میں مدد دی جائے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ ملکی معیشت میں بہتری، سرمایہ کاری اور عوام کو پائیدار ریلیف فراہم کرنے کے لیے سیاسی استحکام ناگزیر ہے۔ عوام مہنگائی، بے روزگاری اور بنیادی سہولیات سے متعلق مسائل کا حل چاہتے ہیں اور حکومت کی توجہ انہی مسائل پر مرکوز ہے۔
صوبائی وزیر کے مطابق پنجاب میں ترقیاتی منصوبوں کی رفتار تیز کی جا رہی ہے جبکہ عوامی وسائل کے شفاف اور مؤثر استعمال کو یقینی بنانے کی کوشش کی جا رہی ہے۔ موجودہ حالات میں تمام سیاسی قیادت کو ذاتی اور جماعتی مفادات سے بالاتر ہو کر پاکستان کے وسیع تر مفاد کو ترجیح دینا ہوگی۔
بلال یاسین نے کہا کہ پنجاب حکومت عوام کے ساتھ کیے گئے وعدوں کی تکمیل کے لیے عملی اقدامات جاری رکھے گی اور کسی سیاسی دباؤ کو عوامی خدمت کی راہ میں رکاوٹ نہیں بننے دیا جائے گا۔
انہوں نے کہا، “ہمارا مقابلہ کسی سیاسی جماعت سے نہیں بلکہ مہنگائی، بے روزگاری، پسماندگی اور عوامی مسائل سے ہے۔
