The Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi (HAR) has launched an extensive upgrade of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Park, located on Sir Syed Street, aimed at improving its aesthetic appeal and recreational facilities for the public.
According to Managing Director HAR, Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, work is progressing swiftly to plant seasonal flowers and restore the park’s grass. The introduction of vibrant flowerbeds has significantly enhanced the park’s overall ambience, making it more inviting for visitors and families.
In addition to beautification, the agency is focusing on upgrading infrastructure within the park. Efforts are underway to repair walking tracks, install modern benches, and strengthen cleanliness arrangements to ensure a comfortable and hygienic environment for citizens.
Ranjha emphasized that providing high-quality recreational spaces remains a top priority for HAR. He noted that similar initiatives will be carried out in other parts of Rawalpindi to promote greener and healthier urban spaces.
He also called on residents to play their part in maintaining cleanliness and protecting plants, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to improving green areas and creating a more pleasant environment for the community.

Pakistan Railways, in coordination with the Railways Police, has successfully reclaimed valuable commercial land worth approximately Rs120 million during a targeted anti encroachment operation in Rawalpindi.
According to an official spokesperson, the operation was carried out on Goods Approach Road, where authorities demolished 15 illegally constructed commercial shops. In addition, multiple residential and commercial encroachments were removed, leading to the recovery of nearly two kanals of prime railway land.
The operation was conducted in the Rawalpindi Division under the vision of Federal Minister for Railways Mohammad Hanif Abbasi and on the directives of Inspector General Railways Police Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan. A heavy contingent of Railways Police, led by Superintendent Railways Police Kosar Abbas along with the Station House Officer, took part in the action. Officials from the Railway Engineering Department also assisted to ensure smooth execution.
Speaking on the occasion, IG Railways Police Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan reaffirmed the department’s commitment to a zero tolerance policy against encroachments on railway land. He emphasized that such operations are crucial not only for safeguarding public assets but also for improving the financial health of Pakistan Railways.
The Railways Police further reiterated its resolve to continue strict and indiscriminate action against land mafia elements across the country to protect state owned properties.

Rawalpindi police have launched a citywide crackdown against violations of the Tenancy Act, conducting shop-to-shop and house-to-house inspections across the city.
In the past three days, authorities registered 33 cases and detained 51 people for failing to comply with the law. The campaign is being conducted under the supervision of CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, with senior officers monitoring tenant registration reports and enforcement actions.
Police have urged all citizens to immediately register urban tenants and employees with their local police station or through the Police Khidmat Markaz and Punjab Police mobile app. Authorities also encouraged residents to report any violations of the Act.
Failure to register tenants is a punishable offence, and verification certificates are being collected from union councils, chairmen, councilors, and market presidents to ensure compliance. Police have emphasized that the crackdown will continue until all urban tenancy regulations are fully enforced.
